On the evening of Tuesday, March 25, 2025, our university proudly hosted the finals of the 42nd Shao-Yun Awards Singing and Group Dance Competition, themed “Sound of Aspiration.” A total of 37 teams registered for the competition, with 6 teams from the Singing category and 5 teams from the Group Singing and Dance category advancing to the final stage. The event featured a distinguished panel of judges, including Golden Melody Award winner Mr. Juan Ke-Yong, accomplished vocalist Mr. Chuo Yi-Feng, and popular singer-dancer Mr. Shen Li-An.
The Shao-Yun Competition is a treasured musical tradition of the university, comprising three categories: Singing, Original Composition, and Group Singing and Dance. All categories—except the group performances which use backing tracks—are presented with live band accompaniment. This platform allows students to express their musical and creative talents at a professional level.
All participating teams demonstrated exceptional dedication in their musical selection, arrangement, stage presence, and emotional delivery, offering the audience a captivating and high-quality performance. In the second half of the event, each of the three judges provided insightful feedback, affirming the participants’ efforts and even taking the stage to deliver live demonstration performances.
In his address, President Yang Yuan-Ming congratulated the winning teams and remarked that the Shao-Yun Competition is a highly anticipated annual musical highlight for both faculty and students. While the university does not offer formal music or dance programs, the continuous improvement and creativity of the performers each year is truly commendable. He encouraged all participants to cherish the journey of preparation and personal growth, and to take pride in their efforts, regardless of the outcome. He concluded with hopes that students will carry this spirit forward into future endeavors and challenges.
